Irene Berg grew up in Cape Town, South Africa. After studies in music at Stellenbosch University and the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt/Main, she took a course in Graphic Design.
Ben and the Whales/Ben en die Walvisse was her first picture book and earned her several awards in South Africa. Now Mannheim being her base, she works as an illustrator and teacher of music.
