Ingrid Mennen lives and works in Cape Town, just below the Table Mountain.
She studied literature (Afrikaans, English) and museology. She is the author of various picture books for children, some of which have been translated into various languages (Somewhere in Africa /Ashraf of Africa; One Round Moon).
Ben and the Whales was the first picture book she created with her daughter, illustrator Irene Berg. It has received several awards in South Africa.
