What if humans hadn’t done it…

What if humans hadn’t done it…

What animal would have what it takes to dominate the world if humans hadn’t taken the part?

If we hadn’t done it, what other creature would have had the potential to start civilization? This book is an invitation to think about our place on earth. About the past, the present, and the future – because if humans disappear from the face of this earth one day, it is not the end of the world. Maybe raccoons are already rubbing their soft paws as they patiently await their opportunity to take over our cities…

In five fantastic pop-up pages showing panorama views of alternative realities, bizarre visions of past and future, Vitali Konstantinov gives his imagination free reign: Say hello to Octopolis, Raccowloon, Dino-City, and Monkeytown!

Vitali Konstantinov:
»In this book I wanted to juxtapose our (probably forever incomplete) knowledge about evolution with my imagination. I put together some of the latest scientific findings and used a reduced style (two-toned digitally colored pen drawings) to illustrate them. At first, my thought experiments, partly inspired by actual scientists, are covered by flaps, but whoever lifts them up will discover huge, fantastic, and intensely colorful surprises. The illustrations behind the flaps were created using colored pens and colored ink on cold-pressed watercolor paper.«
