Annegret Ritter’s illustrations take you to Lisbon, through the districts of Alfama, Benfica and Cacilhas, down to the banks of the river Tejo. From time to time she halts at one of the many colorful kiosks to be found all over this area.

Here tourists meet as well as the locals, they share a laugh, have a snack or a coffee, and sometimes even borrow a book from the kiosk owner…
Lyrics by Fernando Pessoa, the famous Portuguese poet, and lines of popular Fado songs accompany our visual journey, and suggest the spirit of this place.
