Jürgen Banscherus

Jürgen Banscherus was born in Remscheid in 1949 and studied liberal arts and social sciences in Münster and Bonn. He worked as a journalist, a research assistant, an editor for a publishing house and an adult education teacher before his first children’s book came out in 1982. Since then he has written around 70 children’s and YA books, which have been translated into 26 languages. Among his various distinctions he was awarded the 2010 Annette von Droste-Hülshoff Prize for lifetime achievement.
