Murt has always been crazy about monkeys. His longtime dream is to become a monkey researcher. One day, his dream comes true, and he embarks upon a life in the jungle that is not always easy but always full of impressive encounters with nature. His best friend stays put at home, but through the short messages, photos and sketches Murt sends her, she travels with him in thought – as will every reader of this picture book.

Katja Spitzer: “When I first set foot into my friend Murt’s place in the Berlin borough of Neukölln, all I saw was monkeys, staring at me from etchings on the wall, doing cartwheels and climbing around as sculptures between the books on his shelves. It was obvious that Murt had a passion for monkeys. While he was in Bolivia working with semi-feral monkeys, he kept sending me photographs and messages. Shortly after, he went to Panama, and something strange happened: Somewhere among the hot, humid air of the rain forest, the cries of the howler monkeys, the buzzing of insects, and the colors of the tropical plants, Murt’s adventure came alive in me. So, I bought myself some colored pencils and started drawing…”
