Nina Dobrot was born in 1976 and grew up on the island of Sylt. At the age of 10 she wanted to be a tightrope walker, a writer and a whale-rescuer, but she went on to study education, modern German literature and Scandinavian studies in Hamburg. She has worked in culture and education ever since.

She is involved in the “BEI HILDE – Brot & Geschichten” reading group, writes short prose pieces and has just completed her debut novel after working on it for several years.

She lives with her family in Hamburg, where she can smell the North Sea when the west wind blows. She likes bad weather at the seaside, comic literature and quirky North German humour.
